On August 14, a devastating mudslide and flooding struck the mountain town of Regent on the outskirts of Sierra Leone's capital, Freetown, claiming the lives of hundreds and leaving an indelible mark on the community. As the world grappled with the aftermath of this tragic event, I am compelled to share the stories of resilience, survival, and hope that emerged from the rubble through my experiences as a video journalist documenting the happenings in Sierra Leone.

'Mandi' is a digital graphic novel adaptation of the events surrounding the Sierra Leone mudslide and flooding, weaving together real-life accounts and fictional elements to honor the experiences of those affected. Through vivid illustrations, immersive storytelling, and multimedia integration, I aim to shed light on the human side of disaster and the strength of the human spirit in the face of adversity.

From the chaos of the mudslide and flooding to the heroic efforts of Kelvin Kamara and rescue teams, 'Mandi' delves into the heart of the tragedy while highlighting the resilience and solidarity that emerged in its wake.

My goal is to foster understanding, empathy, and solidarity across borders. Mandi' epitomizes my journalistic journey, capturing the profound impact of tragic events and illuminating the resilience embedded within the untold narratives of the Sierra Leone mudslide and flooding. Through immersive storytelling, it encapsulates the enduring spirit of the individuals who braved these catastrophes, showcasing their remarkable strength and fortitude.
